What is Phrazit?

Phrazit is a fun new way to browse and share condensed opinions for any topic.

There are currently two main types of review systems. On the one hand, there are incredibly simple numeric ratings that don't provide enough meaningful details. Alternatively, there are overly lengthy open responses that take too long to read. Phrazit combines the strengths of both systems, having the speed of numeric ratings and the substance of written reviews, presenting useful information at a glance.

How does it work?

1. View opinions quickly about a movie you might go see, a restaurant you might eat at, etc.
2. Add your opinion (your "phraze").
3. See how many people agree with your phrazes.
4. Follow friends to see how they phraze and follow your favorite topics.

How do I phraze a topic?

Every topic page has a word cloud of phrazes inside a box. These are all the phrazes people have used to describe the given topic. The larger the text, the more popular that phraze. Hover your mouse over a phraze to see how many votes it has. The cloud displays the top 25 most popular phrazes (if there are more than 25 phrazes, click on the "see all" under the cloud).

To phraze a topic, simply click on an existing phraze or type in your own. Your vote is always highlighted in green. Phrazes must be 30 characters or less, and you can only phraze a given topic once. Don't worry, though, you can change your vote.

Facebook Connect

Phrazit allows you to login via Facebook Connect, with your Facebook authentication. You can see what your Facebook friends have phrazed for various topics, and can opt to have your own new phrazes show up in your Facebook activity stream.

What does my score mean?

Scores are based on the number of people who agree with your phrazes. The better you are at predicting the crowd, the higher your score. Your score, and your corresponding ranking, are updated hourly.

How does privacy work?

Your privacy is very important to us. We want you to be able to share as much or as little of your opinions with as many or few people as you'd like. As a registered member, you can control your privacy through three modes: public, limited, and private, all set from your account page.

The public privacy level means anyone can view your profile (and the voting history included there), and all your votes will appear on the public feed. The limited privacy level means that in order to see information about you, other users will need your approval. Users will not be able to access your profile, view your votes, or track you without your permission. The private privacy level means no one will ever view your votes, people are not allowed to track you, and your votes will not appear in the public feed.
